History of the Tournament

It was started in 2009. Since then, the SRSPM Badminton tournament has been successfully organized every year. Shri Vijaynarayan R Pandit, the President of Organizing Committee, is the MOTIVATOR of this mega event in Kalyan. The main aim of the tournament is to make BADMINTON popular in new generation which is responsible for not only good health but also for positive thinking. Late Shri Ramcharan (Sunder) Pandit was an excellent sportsman, sports-lover and sports-promoter in Kalyan. Therefore, the Organizing Committee has decided to give his name to this annual amateur tournament. The tournament is sponsored by 'YASHOSUNDAR' SAU. M J PANDIT CHARITABLE TRUST and K M AGRAWAL COLLEGE, KALYAN.
In 2020, New Org. Comm. has been formed to organize Carrom Tournament-2020 in the memory of late Shri Ramcharan (Sundar) Pandit Jee.

Introduction : 
                It is the fifth “SHRI RAMCHARAN (SUNDAR) PANDIT MEMORIAL AMATEURE BADMINTON TOURNAMENT-2013”.
Shri Ramcharan (Sundar) Pandit was born in 1943 in Kalyan. He was actively involved in the social and political activities throughout his life. As a sportsman, he had participated in State-level Kabaddi and Weightlifting Competitions. He was one of the founder members of “Om Kabaddi Sangh”, which has become the most fertile ground for Kabaddi Players in Kalyan today. He believed that sports could transform our youth into healthy, disciplined, energetic & unified strength of our country. To inculcate these characters in our young generation, various sports have been organized in his memory like, Zonal Boxing Championship, Kabaddi Championship, and Local Badminton Tournament etc.
K.M. Agrawal College of Arts, Commerce and Science was started in 1994 to fulfill the curricular & co curricular need of Kalyan and its surrounding areas. At present, there are more than 5500 students in the college who are enrolled for various courses like BA, B.Com, B.Sc. Computer Science and Information Technology, BMS etc. Agrawal College has a big playground with well-developed Badminton Hall & well-equipped Gymnasium.

All Badminton players of Kalyan and its surrounding areas are invited to participate in this Tournament and to make it great success.
